Das Atelier und Wohnhaus in der 57 Great Jones Street – Einst war es Andy Warhols, dann lebte und arbeite Jean-Michel Basquiat hier. An dem Ort, wo er am 12. August 1988 an einer Überdosis Heroin starb.

Die Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation und die Two Boots Foundation brachten zur Erinnerung seines Wirkens eine Gedenktafel an, die bei ihrer Enthüllung hunderte Begleiter*innen seiner prägenden New Yorker Jahre anzog.

Great Jones Street #57 liegt südlich zwischen Lafayette Street und Bowery.

The studio and residence at 57 Great Jones Street – Once it was Andy Warhol’s, then Jean-Michel Basquiat lived and worked here. In the place where he died of a heroin overdose on August 12, 1988.

The Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation and the Two Boots Foundation installed a plaque to commemorate his work, which attracted hundreds of companions to his defining New York years when it was unveiled.

Great Jones Street #57 is located on the south side between Lafayette Street and the Bowery.
